Discussion list / Discussion forum

What is a discussion list or discussion forum? Sometimes also called a mailing list. It's actually a dedicated website with a specific address, URL, where storage is by email sent to an email address, linked to the web page. All emails sent here have an extension to a particular topic.

A list may be open or closed. To an open list, anyone can send an email. To a closed list, the sender or participant or subscriber must be pre-registered with his / her own name and email address as well as approved by the list's "owner" or a designated "moderator". The moderator has to ensure that each email is designed according to the rules laid down for the list.

Each email that comes to the list is automatically copied and forwarded via a server to all participants, who then have the opportunity to send answers, which also goes out to everyone. In this way, a discussion or an exchange of views can be initiated.

The G-gruppen discussion list is a closed list, where a required membership of the association is necessary to participate.
